The Cosmetology Instructor Training program is designed to prepare licensed cosmetologists for the State licensing examination as an educator. Students learn the science of teaching and enhance their skills in all aspects of their chosen fields. Upon graduation and licensing, students will be qualified to teach full- or part-time cosmetology in a licensed school.
This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Students entering the program must have a current cosmetology license and at least one (1) year full-time work experience in the cosmetology field. At the end of two (2) semesters, upon the completion of the courses listed below, the student will qualify to take the Alabama State Board Examination. This certificate prepares individuals who already have a cosmetology license to teach cosmetology.
*Short-term certificate not eligible for federal aid.
