Cosmetology (CER-COS)

Cosmetology is a program that equips individuals with the skills needed to cut, trim, and style hair on the scalp, face, and body, as well as applying cosmetic products, perform manicures and pedicures, and provide head and extremity massages. It also prepares students to work as licensed cosmetologists in both specialized and full-service salons. The course begins with classroom instruction to build a solid knowledge base, which is then applied through practice on mannequins and peers before transitioning to live work activities. This carefully designed program ensures that students acquire the essential knowledge and skills to become licensed professionals in the field.

This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. Although some of the courses in this program will transfer to four-year institutions, this program is not designed to be a transfer program of study; therefore, it is not subject to the terms and conditions of Alabama Transfers state transfer and articulation reporting system.
